Mitchell & Abbott has plenty of expertise and experience, after all we have been in business since the early 1920’s. But one part of our corporate history of which we are particularly proud is the fact that we pioneered insurance discounts for Ontario’s mature / senior drivers and homeowners.
- During the 1980’s we launched the very first Group Home and Auto Insurance Program specifically designed for retirees – The Dofasco Retiree Program
- During the 1990’s and into the new millennium, Mitchell & Abbott pioneered the concept of auto insurance discounts for seniors and retirees in general. In the early years, many of our competitors thought the concept would fail miserably due to some well-publicized catastrophic auto accidents involving seniors. Since then our competitors have caught on and senior discounts have become common place. Rest assured however, as pioneers of this concept, Mitchell & Abbott will offer you some of the best rates available, and customer service that is second to none!
- Today, we still love to insure mature drivers…though we tend not to use the words “Senior” or “Grey” – because, well, 70 is the new 50! We are the designated insurance broker for the Municipal Retirees of Ontario (MROO) and have been for many years. They trust Mitchell & Abbott and so can you.
